Jordan Rodman
Managing Partner
Jordan Rodman has over 29 years of experience defending developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals and material suppliers in construction defect litigation throughout Northern and Southern California. Jordan’s practice currently focuses on high-end custom homes, large tract housing developments, commercial and industrial projects, as well as significant governmental, school and university improvements. He has successfully litigated hundreds of complex, multi-tiered and high exposure lawsuits through mediation, arbitration and trial. Jordan has also defended property owners and builders in premises liability and job-site injury cases, and counsels private contractors on contractual negotiations and risk management policies. He also has significant experience defending vehicular and other personal injury matters.
Jordan has been a court-appointed mediator for the Sonoma County Superior Court, and is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California, where he has lectured on recoverable expert costs and fees in litigation. When he is not in the office or a court room, Jordan can be found with his family enjoying the Sonoma and Napa wine country, snowboarding on the slopes of Northern California and Utah, or scuba diving in tropical destinations in the Pacific and Caribbean.
Jordan obtained his Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in California, as well as the Northern and Central Districts and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jordan has been selected to the Northern California Super Lawyers list from 2020-2024.

Karin Landry
Partner
Practicing for over 24 years, Karin Landry specializes in the litigation of claims involving construction defect, product liability, personal injury, landlord tenant, contract dispute and professional liability. She represents major developers and general contractors in complex and large-scale construction projects for commercial and residential developments. She defends individuals, professionals, businesses, and public entities against allegations of negligence, premises liability, products liability, misrepresentation, and breach of contract.
Karin also has an active transactional and business litigation practice, representing companies in corporate and administrative matters. Clients rely on Karin not only to litigate claims, but also to consult on risk avoidance and risk management strategies. She is dedicated to providing her clients with the highest level of legal counseling and representation, utilizing innovative and creative strategies designed to achieve the best possible results.
As a visiting student at Villanova University School of Law, Karin gained insight into the fields of business law, tax and estate planning before obtaining her Juris Doctor from California’s Golden Gate University. Karin opened her own practice in business and estate planning in Pennsylvania, returning to California a few years later to work in civil litigation. She has also worked for various State and Federal agencies, including California Public Utilities Commission and NASA.
Karin is admitted to practice in both California and Pennsylvania, as well as the Northern and Eastern Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Melissa Meyers
Partner
Melissa is a highly experienced attorney with over 28 years of insurance defense related litigation and trial practice. She specializes in complex construction litigation in residential and commercial projects representing contractors, developers, and design professionals. She also has significant experience in diverse areas of the law including personal injury and property damage under auto, homeowner, and general liability claims. She has defended contractors and owners for work site injuries involving large loss catastrophic injuries and death claims.
Melissa served as Staff Counsel with Zurich Insurance providing additional insight and knowledge of insurance claims and claims handling. She is adept at overseeing large complex cases and managing matters from pre-litigation through resolution, being mindful of costs and results. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in psychology. She then graduated from University of North Dakota School of Law, where she was active in Moot Court and served on the UND Law Review Board. She is licensed to practice in California, as well as the Northern District and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Melissa lives in Petaluma and is an avid early American art collector with her husband.

Cynthia Shambaugh
Partner
Cynthia Shambaugh has 33 years of experience defending contractors in construction defect cases. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1975, her Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1977, and her J.D. degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, in 1985. She is currently a partner with Rodman & Associates, and formerly was a partner with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith. She has also served as staff counsel at Zurich Insurance, Safeco Insurance, American States Insurance. In addition to specializing in the defense of subcontractors in construction defect litigation, she has experience in the defense of personal injury, automobile, landlord-tenant, civil assault and homeowners litigation. Cynthia is the author of Chapter 14 “Construction Defects: Case Management and Mediation” in the CEB manual Construction Contracts, Defects, and Litigation. This chapter focuses on the issues and strategies in the representation of plaintiffs, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in construction defect cases. She has presented a PowerPoint seminar on “The Flow of a Construction Defect Lawsuit: Roadmaps to Resolution” at meetings in New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and at the West Coast Casualty Seminar in Anaheim, CA. Cynthia is admitted to practice in California and in the Northern District of California.
Cynthia lives in Calaveras County and spends her free time gardening and designing landscape quilts.

Robert Norris
Associate
Robert M. Norris began his career as a general building contractor and real estate developer. As a general contractor, he specialized in home remodeling and extensive earthquake renovation following the 1994 Northridge earthquake. His experience in development includes the building of homes, condominiums, retail strip centers, and fast-food restaurants. Robert brings experience in all aspects of the construction process, including planning and design, permitting and entitlements, construction contracts, onsite supervision of construction, and construction management including critical path project scheduling and processing of change orders and invoices.
Robert obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2000 from John F. Kennedy School of Law and has been licensed to practice in California since 2001. Since then, his work has been primarily in construction defect litigation, along with a continuing interest in defending minors in juvenile delinquency court.
Robert looks forward to time outdoors hiking with his family, and gardening.

Susan L. Coffin
Susan L. Coffin is a seasoned paralegal with over two decades of experience in complex construction litigation defense and workers compensation. Susan is experienced in all aspects of insurance defense litigation with emphasis in complex, multiparty matters. In addition to her paralegal career, Susan is also mobile notary and loan signing agent. In her spare time, she loves to write, and has published both fiction and non-fiction works. She also enjoys running, weight-lifting, knitting, and living in the country.
Susan obtained her B.A. in Liberal Studies and her certificate in the Paralegal Program from Sonoma State University.

Michelle McManus
Michelle joins the Rodman and Associates team with over twenty years of Civil Litigation Paralegal experience. She began her career in Santa Clara County with an Associate in Science Degree in Paralegal/Legal Assistant Studies. She has enjoyed working in various areas of litigation including personal injury, insurance defense, construction defect, estate and probate litigation, and IP law. Michelle has also been a Notary Public for over twelve years and currently has a commission in Sonoma County. She is a member of the National Notary Association and joined the American Bar Association as a legal professional.
Michelle volunteers her time with Amigos de las Americas and recently spent 6 weeks in Oaxaca, Mexico doing work for this organization. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, bicycling, gardening, cooking, writing poetry, swimming, and going to the beach.

Chris Farrell
Chris is our eDiscovery paralegal with ten years of experience. Having worked with small firms to AM100 law firms in San Francisco, he is back home in Sonoma County. Chris received an ABA Paralegal Certificate from SF State University, before jumping into litigation ranging from class-actions, personal injury, construction defect, intellectual property, and employment law. He now handles the firm’s document databases and technical projects.
Chris enjoys cycling, snowboarding, playing music, golfing, and doing projects around the house with his wife.

Gabrielle Cole
Gabrielle joins the Rodman and Associates team with over twenty-five years of litigation paralegal experience. She began her career in San Mateo County with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies. She has enjoyed working in both boutique and national firms in various areas of litigation including personal injury, insurance defense, construction litigation, employment, and general liability.
Gabrielle enjoys spending her time volunteering with several local animal rescue groups, hosting exchange students from all over the world, traveling with her husband, rooting for the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, spoiling her two golden retrievers and sphynx cat, spending time with her adult daughter and attending her grandson’s soccer games.

Rowena Arata
Rowena comes to Rodman & Associates with over 15 years’ experience as a legal secretary and has worked with a local small to mid-sized law firms in Sonoma County. Rowena has a diverse background in the areas of personal injury, insurance defense, family law, and worker’s compensation. Rowena received her legal secretarial certificate from Empire College of Business.
For over a decade Rowena has volunteered with Sonoma County Legal Aid Golf Tournament and Heart Gala fka Lawyers with Heart. She participates in the Tour de Fuzz ride which supports the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Foundation and Incarnation 100 cycling event, which benefits homeless services. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her two adult daughters and her many family members and friends, walking her dog Chewy, cooking and learning French. She also enjoys watching Warriors Basketball and Giants Baseball.

Stephanie Phillips
Stephanie comes to Rodman & Associates with over 20 years’ experience as a legal secretary and has worked with local law firms in Sonoma County, as well as the Office of General Counsel for Sutter Health in Sacramento. Stephanie has most recently worked as an Executive Assistant for a large coffee manufacturing company in Petaluma as well as for a start-up tech company as of 2019.
For many years, Stephanie has volunteered her time and efforts to many Sonoma County charities and events, most notable the Catwalk for a Cure, which is an annual Sutter Health fundraiser supporting efforts to find a cure for cancer and helping those fighting cancer, and Levi’s Gran Fondo annual cycling event as a Bike Marshal. She also spent a handful of years as a competitive cyclist, duathlete and runner. Now, Stephanie enjoys the outdoors including mountain biking, trail running, snowboarding, hiking, fishing and tending to her five dogs.

Lisa Larman
Lisa Larman is a seasoned accounting professional with over ten years experience. Lisa is a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor, who has skillfully supported and empowered for-profit and nonprofit organizations large and small with notable expertise in bookkeeping consulting, audits, clean-up work and compliance. Lisa has served a wide range of industries, including wine, hospitality, customer service, trusts and estates, property management and more than 150 homeowners’ associations across California.
Sonoma County has always been Lisa’s home, and it is where she shares a full and busy life with her husband and eight-year-old son. Lisa volunteers with the Mark West School District and can often be found cheering on the Little League, flag football and youth golf sidelines. Outside of work and parenting, Lisa bakes, plays golf herself, hits the gym, tackles home renovation projects and dotes on her high-maintenance but irresistibly loving French bulldog puppy, Patrick.

Danielle Gardner
Danielle has extensive experience in the medical and hospitality/service industries and earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Sonoma State University. She knows how to successfully manage the front office and accomplish tasks with ease and efficiency. As our Office Administrator, RAA clients can count on Danielle to be warm, welcoming and reliable.
Born and raised in Sonoma County, Danielle enjoys spending time with her many family members in the area, volunteering for animal shelters, working out at the gym, rooting for the San Antonio Spurs, loving on her orange tabby and occasionally sneaking away to explore tropical locales, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Bahamas.
